  22. STANLEY NO. 8 JOINTER PLANE, Sweetheart logo on the cutter with 1 1/2 inches of meat left. (19)02 and (19)10 patent dates cast in the bed. The japanning is all there, but it looks like it was "enhanced" by the older gentleman who used it. Rosewood handle and tall knob are very crisp, and have been refinished. There is some minor roughness on the sole, which shouldn't effect use, and a small hang-hole in the rear. The cutter needs a bit of sharpening and lapping. A great user, G+ ...... Sold $135.00

  27. STANLEY NO. 10 1/2, CARRIAGE MAKER'S RABBET PLANE, This one is the smooth plane size. (18)92 patent date on the cutter with 3/4 inches of meat left. 93% japanning on the body.   29. STANLEY NO. 20, CIRCULAR PLANE, Early nickel plated model. (18)92 patent date on the cutter, 2-7-(18)93 patent date cast in the body. The heaviest circular plane made by Stanley. It's considered the best one for using. 95% nickel plating remains. There is some stain on the top of the sole from age. The bottom is a lot nicer.   30. STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO., No. 27, JACK PLANE. Wood Bottom (18)92 patent date on the cutter. This is a prime example of an early transitional (wood bottom) plane. 97% of the original finishes remain. Absolutely hasn't been cleaned. The owner stamped his name on the front and back. It has been a long time since I have seen one this nice. Fine+ ............ $165.00

  31. STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO., No. 35, SMOOTH PLANE. Wood Bottom (18)92 patent date on the cutter. This is a prime example of an early transitional (wood bottom) plane. 97% of the original finishes remain. There are some paint scuffs on one side (shown) from planing a door or window. That may come off, but I just wanted to leave it original. Absolutely hasn't been cleaned. The only apology is that the owner stamped his name on the top of each side.   39. STANLEY NO. 48, TONGUE & GROOVE PLANE, Used to make a 5/16 inch tongue and groove joint on 3/4 inch to 1 1/4 inch boards, centering on 7/8 inch stock. An early nickel-plated one with the ivy design on the handle. S casting marks and the same thumb screws as the japanned model, but nickel plated (which I haven't seen before). 80% of the nickel plating remains, G+ ........ $105.00

  1. EDWIN HAHN NO. 3 SMOOTH PLANE, (No. 4 size) Wilkes-Barre, Penn. 1908-18.
    Hahn was apparently influenced by Siegley, although there is no known connection.
    Aside from an unusual lateral adjuster, the main feature seems to be that the chip-breaker is attached to the cap. Almost all of the japanning remains. Some patina on the bare metal surfaces, G+ ........ $175.00

  2. SARGENT NO. 422 VBM (Very Best Made), JOINTER PLANE, (No. 7 size) The cutter has 1 1/8 inches of meat left. It is marked for the 418 plane, so, it may be a replacement. 95% japanning. The East India mahogany handle has some nice flame-grain, and looks like the base was relieved a bit so a bigger hand could fit it. The handle and short knob have some tool-box wear. That rectangle on the bed in front of the cutter should probably had a brass plate, but it's gone. Some patina to the bare-metal surfaces, but a great user,G+ ........ $90.00

    The tip of the tote has been trimmed down a bit, probably to smooth out a small chip. The cutters have some stain and a few spots that are too light to call pitting. A little sharpening will have them ready to use. A little cleaning wouldn't hurt. A good user, G+ ......... $345.00

Boxed STANLEY NO. 50 LIGHT COMBINATION PLANE, Complete with 2 depth stops, the usually-missing cutter holding screw and shaving deflector, and 17 cutters (9 plow, 6 beading and 1 match) that have had very little use (only two have been sharpened) - they have some dirt and original cosmoline on them, in their blue-labeled Stanley box. The plane has about 99% of its nickel plating. The rosewood handle has some light scuffs to the finish. In the original box, which it a little rough, Fine++ ........ $245.00

  12. STANLEY NO. 55 COMBINATION PLANE, This one is pristine and was used very little. Complete with long and short rods, depth stops, auxiliary center bottom, and cam.
    This one has the two chamfer cutters, so, there are a total of 55 cutters, which come in the four-row box with cardboard cover that has some damage. The cutters are crispe, and have seen little use. The cosmoline is still on many of them, which is most of the brown you see in the picture. There are a few spots of light rust on the tips from storage that will go away when sharpened for use.
    98% of the nickel plating remains. The dark-rosewood handles and fences are very crisp, but there are a few minor tool-box dings and scratches.
    It comes with an owner-made cherry? box that is large enough to hold the cutters and the plane while it is still assembled. I will include a copy of The Stanley Combination Plane, which has complete instructions for the No. 55, Fine++ .......... $650.00
