Tool: Handsaws and planes Description: I use handtools for my wood works. I am looking for a Disston-like 28" long rip saw, 5 tpi, a 28" long crosscut saw, 8 tpi plus a sharpening/setting/gauging related tools. I also need a jointer plane, 22" long, a jack plane 14" long, a smoothing plane 10" long, a scraping plane about 10" long. I am living in France and consequently the packing+freight+ VAT add cost from the USA to this side of the pond are very high. This is the reason why I am particularly interested in tools that need to be cleaned, restored and sharpened to be usable. Of course, the saw blades shall not be twisted or kinked. I am not a collector so I am not prepared to pay for collectibles. I would be grateful if someone could help me.

Tool: information Description: Desprately seeking info on antique scrollsaw patterns. I have an illustrated catalog (copyright 1895,Rue Souverain Pont 35 Liege,Belgique) entitled "Catalouge Illustre de L'Artiste Amateur et L'Artiste Decoupeur". The authors name is J.N.Jaques,The catalog depicts hundreds of patterns ranging from smaller ornate picture frames and such to larger more elaborate pieces such as victorian bird cages and theme cabinets. I have about 90%-95% of the patterns which are divided into three sets A,B,C, they are awesome. I'm a carpenter/woodworker so they inspired me to scroll soon after I aquired them a few years back (very cool). Now i'm looking for info on them and I can't seem to find anything. I have been told that my grandfather made brooms in the SE Michigan area during the depression and sold them in many local stores. Tool: Stanley power bore bits Description: power boring nits for boring holes-covering sizes1/4"-1".the only size #sI have are-04-006 which is an 3/8" size and an 04-016 which is a 1" bit.these bits are similar to the auger style wood bits,but do not have the chip removal twist runnini the langth of the shaft on the bit.Some of the bits were available up until last year,stanley has had no calling for these bits and decided not to manufacture them. A european friend has found that Marples makes one similar-called a "Center Bit" for blind hole and shallow boring.These bits need to be modified to work properly in an electric drill motor(if there are none available-the old stanley that is).the old style brace will work on these bits (marples)but the taper for the brace is not compatible with modern drill motor chucks. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN! thanks.

Others in the shop where I apprenticed had plastic handled versions of the same. Over the years the set gradually disappeared. Tool: 2 5/8" cap iron, or double iron, stanley 608 Description: This plane has '95 and '10 patent dates on the bed behind the frog, raised knob surround, and a notch boxed 'stanley' lever iron. Someone ground the cap iron and blade into a scrub shape! I can possibly recover the blade, but the cap iron sits too far from the edge, about 3/8 inch to show blade. I need usable straight parts. This thing is rough, rusty, dinged and has a hang hole in the toe, but will tune to usefulness. This double iron might be a useful scrub combo for the jointer, but it aint what I need.

Tool: sargent 408 w/ wood base Description: About 3 years ago, I picked up two planes at an auction in southern West Virginia, and never really paid much attention to them until recently. Reason being, I am planning on selling them, but not just yet. However, in all the looking I have done I have not been able to find any sargent # 408's with a wooden base like mine.
