The second edition of British Planemakers by William Goodman, published in 1978, has long been the authoritative reference on the subject. Mark and Jane Rees, with the cooperation of the British Tool Society, have now provided us with a much needed update and revision. The biographic directory covers 1650 makers and dealers (versus 880 in the second edition) and includes for the first time over 1600 imprint illustrations.
